granny squares update....
I adore making all these granny squares and am up to about 20, I go in fits and starts. Make a bunch one day and pick it up again in a few days.
love seeing them stacked so neatly |
I've also been working on one giant granny square baby blanket with a creamy off white wool and i picked up some pink wool to add a bit of color. I'm making this for a friend of mine who just had a baby girl.

stuff I made from Pinterest
I love Pinterest, it's truly addictive. One of the many wonderful blogs I follow mentioned actually making something from all those DIY pins, so I did! It's an adorable peasant dress for babies. I am going to try and link to the blog I got it from (that someone had pinned) the blog, Sew Much Ado, is fantastic! Her directions were super clear and easy to follow, I made two of these dresses for a friend of mine who just had a baby girl. So give it a try, make some of the things on your DIY board!

oh and one more thing...
I found this really great blog, Meet Me At Mikes, http://meetmeatmikes.blogspot.com.au/ and have decided to do the "A Granny A Day". I have always wanted to learn to make granny squares and they've never come out quite right until now! Pip at Meet Me At Mikes has a complete set of instructional videos that have me now whipping out these granny squares. What fun, I just have to hit the yarn store and add some more brightly colored wool to my collection of mostly neutrals. Wish I could figure out how to put the "A Granny A Day" button on my blog, go over to Meet Me At Mikes and check it out.
i've made 9 granny squares! |

finish the unfinished
My family and I have moved into our new home and in the move I have unearthed so many unfinished projects, some I don't know if I'll ever get them done! Oh and the fabric, my stash from a million years ago, what fun to go through it. Some I still love and others make me think what was I thinking!? Here are some pics....

spinning star hand piecing and balsam fir for sachets |
odds and ends |
English paper pieced hexagons |
I love Japanese fabric and hexagons |
cross stitch on antique linen |
doll quilt |
I just finished this very patriotic Christmas stocking, I know, Christmas?! Well I had the fabric and made the little, tiny flag by paper piecing and it just occured to me to make a stocking, when the muse strikes! The cuff is made from the last of a bolt of vintage linen from the 20's, I remember when I found it at a NYC flea market my heart was pounding, it was the find of the century for me....

Silk Ribbon Embroidery
My family and I recently moved to our new house and while going through some of my boxes I found my silk ribbon stuff and of course I had to sit down immediately and make something. Super basic stitches with some beads thrown on, makes me think of Spring!

Modern Mini Challenge entry
Well it wasn't a sunny day but I think I was able to get a good shot of my Spinning Stars mini quilt none the less. This is a completly hand cut, hand pieced and hand quilted.
Though I adore my Bernina my first love is hand work. All you need are scissors, pins, needles and thread and you can piece anywhere.
I went into my scrap bag and picked out some of my favorites for this challenge which is right up my alley because anything "mini" is perfection for this type of hand work!
My quilt measure 24.5" x 24.5". Thanks Ellison Lane Quilts!!
